Uppark House

Today we became members of the National Trust (thanks GA and GM).  Having researched national trust properties near us, in Cumbria and at various holiday destinations we are sure we will get our money’s worth.

To kick start our National Trust journey we headed to the nearby Uppark House in South Harting.  Megan and William led us around the Georgian house and especially enjoyed the very grand dolls house and underground tunnels the servants used between the main house and the stables and the kitchen (now the cafe and shop).

We had only a short time to explore the gardens before it started hailing.  Not the sort of weather we expect in May.  We took shelter under some yew trees for a chocolate biscuit before making a dash back to the car.  It was nice to know we can come back and explore the extensive gardens on another occasion when the weather is more favourable.

  2. We’re delighted you are now National Trust members and look forward to joining you on some exciting outings.

  3. Glad you enjoyed Uppark House. Grandma’s memory of lunch there was sending back a fishless fish pie! So many great properties to discover.
